Persib's Important Victory Over Persik, Keep Your Distance At The Top Of Liga 1

Bojan Hodak said Persib's victory over Persik was very important to keep the advantage at the top of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 standings (Instagram/@persib).

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung coach, Bojan Hodak, was happy to welcome his team's 4-1 victory when they met Persik Kediri. This result can increase the confidence of the players in maintaining a safe position at the top of the standings.

The three points that Maung Bandung picked in the match were very important because their distance from Dewa United on the standings was still five points adrift.

"We are able to keep our distance in the standings. We won the match. We will pass this pause (FIFA Match Day and Eid holidays) which we really need," said Bojan Hodak in an effort after the match, quoted Thursday, March 6, 2025.

"We previously played in the President's Cup and ACL (AFC Champions League 2), so overall we played nine more games than any other team. So, we need to stay fresh," he said.

Persib managed to open the scoring through Nick Kuipers in the 29th minute against Persik Kediri in the 26th week of Liga 1 2024/2025 at the Gelora Bandung Stadium, Lautan Api (GBLA).

Ryan Kurnia widened the gap to 2-0 in first-half injury time. Persik Kediri had time to reduce the gap through Majeb Osman's penalty in the 63rd minute.

After that, the hosts again showed their teeth with two additional goals through David da Silva (77') and Beckham Putra (90+1').

"Overall, everything is going very well, except maybe one or two situations. I don't think there is any other chance, except when they (Persik Kediri) get a penalty," said Bojan.

From this match, Bojan also admitted that he was disappointed with the referee until he protested and demanded the issuance of a yellow card. He assessed that referee Axel Febrian Sinaga issued a decision that harmed his team.

"I only complained about the situation in the first half, when there was a penalty decision for us, but then it was revised by VAR."

"Then in the second half, there was the same situation, but why was the decision different? So, I only complained if the referee made a mistake in deciding something," he said.

"However, overall I feel he is leading the game well. There are only two or three situations that make me complain. If I feel right, I will always complain about it," said Bojan again.

After taking full points at home to Persik Kediri, Persib Bandung will face an away match to Semen Padang headquarters. The match will be held at the GOR H. Agus Salim Stadium, Padang, West Sumatra, Monday, March 10, 2025.
