League Results 1: PSM Ends Negative Trend After Reaching Persija 1-0

JAKARTA - PSM Makassar ended a negative trend by defeating Persija Jakarta with a score of 1-0, in the Indonesian League 1 match at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Sunday.

PSM's only goal was recorded by Slovenian striker Nemin Haljeta in the 60th minute. The first victory of his last three matches in Liga 1 brought Juku Eja up to seventh with 36 points, while this defeat kept the Kemayoran Tigers stuck in fourth place with 40 points.

PSM appeared to crash in the first ten minutes of the match. They got a good chance from Nermin Hajeta's shot and Daisuke Sakai's header which was still not on target.

Persija had their best chance in the 30th minute. Starting with Ryo Matsumura's movement, the ball was struck by Rio Fahmi, whose shot was still easily caught by goalkeeper Muhammad Reza.

In terms of gunfire, PSM outperformed Persija. They still had two good chances just before halftime, when Hajeta fired a shot that goalkeeper Andritany Ardhyasa could still anticipate, and Victor Luiz's free kick which still bounced over Persija's goal.

After several failures in creating dangerous chances, PSM finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute. Haljeta received a long pass from Victor Luiz, Haljeta fired a measured shot into Persija's goal without being anticipated by goalkeeper Andritany.

To increase attack power, Persija coach Carlos Pena included striker Gustavo Almeida replacing Pablo Andrade in the 63rd minute. Almeida almost immediately affected when he fired a speculative shot from outside the still wide penalty box.

PSM, who were one goal ahead, desperately tried to maintain their lead, by piling up players on the back in the remainder of the game. Persija continued to try to dismantle the PSM defense through Rayhan Hannan's shot which the hosts were still blocked, as well as two chances that Gustavo could still be detained by PSM players.

The hosts also managed to maintain a 1-0 victory, which is also their eighth win of the season.
