JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton team will face Thailand in the semifinals of the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC).

Indonesia got a ticket to the semifinals after defeating China Taipei with a landslide score of 3-0 at the Conson Gymnasium, Qingdao, China, on Friday, February 14, 2025, WIB night.

Indonesia's victory was determined through the mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, the men's singles Alwi Farhan, and the women's singles Putri Kusuma Wardani.

The three victories made the men's doubles Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Martin and the women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti not need to play in the fourth and fifth parties.

Dejan/Fadia first got points in this match. The pair beat world seventh place Yang Po Hsuan/Hu Ling Fang with rubber games 16-21, 21-16, and 21-19.

Alwi Farhan was also forced to play three games in this duel. The 2023 junior world champion lost in the second game against Lee Chia Hao and then closed the match with a score of 21-16, 21-23, and 21-11.

Putri KW, who entered the third party, managed to easily win over her opponent. The 22-year-old badminton player stopped Sung Shuo Yun in two straight games 21-8 and 21-15.

Thailand had already reached the semifinals in the morning session. Pornpawee Chochuwong and his friends got tickets after a dramatic 3-2 win against South Korea.

Getting a semifinal ticket made Indonesia repeat the 2019 edition journey which took place in Hong Kong. Indonesia has also at least won a bronze medal from this event after the semifinals.

The 2019 edition is still Indonesia's best achievement in the history of this event. On two other occasions, each in the first edition of 2017 and the fourth edition of 2023, Indonesia's journey ran aground in the quarter-finals.

The clash between Indonesia and Thailand will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The match will start at 09.30 Chinese time or 08.30 western Indonesia time.
