Liverpool To The Carabao Cup Final, Arne Slot Immediately Focused On The FA Cup

JAKARTA - Liverpool did not celebrate their success in qualifying for the Carabao Cup final or the English League Cup after eliminating Tottenham Hotspur. Arne Slot's manager said Liverpool immediately focused on facing the team from the Championship Division Plymouth Argyle FC.

Liverpool won a ticket to the Carabao Cup final as well as the last step to defend the title after stopping Tottenham's resistance. In the second semifinal match at Anfield Stadium, Friday 7 February 2025 in the morning WIB, Liverpool won 4-0.

The result made Liverpool 4-1 on aggregate. In the first match at home to Tottenham, the Reds lost 1-0. Successfully stepping into the final made Liverpool meet Newcastle United who eliminated Arsenal after winning 2-0 in the second semifinal. In the first match, the Magpies also won with the same score.

Slot also has the chance to win his first trophy in his Liverpool debut to replace Juergen Klopp at the start of this season. Not only that, Slot was able to make an impressive achievement because Liverpool are currently at the top of the English Premier League standings. They also qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League and the FA Cup.

However, Slot did not want to finish the euphoria of success in qualifying for the final. According to him, The Pool did not think about the final match against Newcastle. "This is really satisfying because we reached the final. This is certainly a special moment even though this club is used to playing in the final. The team's performance also really satisfies me," said Slot as quoted by the Independent.

"But you need to know, my focus is on Saturday's match instead of thinking about the final match which will still be held next month [March 2025]. There are still many matches that must be played before this final," he said again.

"What is clear is that we still have to work hard to make improvements because players must be able to be even better. Players also want to develop more. Regarding the final match, this will not be easy because Newcastle also shows an impressive performance [against Arsenal]," said the former Feyennoord coach.

In that semifinal match, Liverpool completely dominated. Having experienced difficulties, Liverpool finally overcome the deadlock when Cody Gakpo broke into Tottenham's goal as well as opened the team's victory. Furthermore, Liverpool added a goal from the penalty point through Mohamed Salah.

Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil Van Dijk have completed the goal and led the team to a 4-0 win. According to Slot, Tottenham were able to concede four times as they lost many of their mainstay players.
