JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player Jonatan Christie went through a dramatic match in the semifinals to reach the final of the Indonesia Masters 2025.
The All England 2024 champion won over Chinese Taipei's singles, Wang Tzu Wei, with the final score 21-18 and 24-22 on Saturday, January 25, 2025 evening WIB.
Jonathan appeared almost flawless in the first game so his opponent only doubled the score 13-13 and 15-15.
The dominance of the 2018 Asian Games gold medalist continues in the second game and comfortably leads 20-15. However, this is where the audience's emotions became a mix-up because their opponents scored five points in a row and forced injury.
"It's not easy when playing at home alone. It's quite a lead, but several times I tried quickly and instead I died a lot myself," said Jonathan.

Indonesia previously failed to secure a final ticket through the mixed doubles pair Rinov Rivaldy/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
The couple had to pack their suitcases after losing two straight games against seventh seed from Japan, Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito.
This is Jonathan's second final at the Indonesia Masters. He previously tasted the title in the tournament in the 2023 edition when he defeated Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
Unfortunately the following year he failed to keep the title after returning home in the first half.
This year Jonathan is one of three Indonesian representatives targeted to come out as champions with Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
