Police Investigate Online Violence Against Kai Havertz's Family

JAKARTA - Police are investigating online harassment received by the wife of Arsenal striker Kai Havertz.

Sophia Havertz shared on social media the live message sent to her after Arsenal were eliminated from the FA Cup by Manchester United on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

"Officers have received a malicious communication report against a Hertfordshire resident on Sunday, January 12, 2025. An investigation is underway," a Hertfordshire Police spokesman told the Press Association on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Arsenal lost on penalties to Manchester United 3-5 after the match ended in 1-1 to two extra rounds.

Not a few props appointed Havertz as the culprit for the Gunners' defeat. The German forward missed a chance from close range to win the match at the Emirates Stadium. Then, he also failed to score on penalties.

His wife shared two posts on her Instagram Story on Monday, January 13, 2025, including one post showing someone threatening to slaughter a baby in her stomach.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta requested that action be taken as quickly as possible.

"Honestly, this is amazing. We really have to do something about it. Accept it and hide it will be bad."

"That is something we have to remove from the game of football because it is very cynical and relies on the outcome of the action. There are no other industries like this," said Arteta.

Havertz returned to action for Arsenal on Thursday, January 16, 2025, early morning WIB, as they beat their rival, Tottenham Hotspur, with a score of 2-1 in the Premier League.

When the 25-year-old's name was read by the stadium broadcaster, there were festive cheers from the supporters of the hosts.

"There is social media perception, then when you come to the stadium and really hear the real fans and what they think, it's two different things," said Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.

"The effort he received tonight was ridiculous. It was the loudest cheers that night when his name was called. You could know that it meant a lot to him," Rice said again.
