Bamford, Dallas And Raphinha Break Leeds' Trend Of Defeating After Gasak Southampton 3-0

JAKARTA - Leeds United returned to winning ways after shaving Southampton 3-0 in a postponed match of the 18th Premier League at Elland Road Stadium, Tuesday local time.

Goals from Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas and Raphinha successfully ended the losing streak that had been felt by Leeds in the previous two matches.

According to Antara, the team made by Marcelo Bielsa has now climbed to 10th place in the standings with a collection of 35 points, while Southampton, who went through eight games without a win, stuck in 14th place with a collection of 30 points.

Arriving with a poor record of no wins in their previous six away games, Southampton had the chance to steal the lead eight minutes after the start but Nathan Tella's shot was kept to goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The hosts threatened again through Raphinha's action, which often troubled the Southampton defense, unfortunately Tyler Roberts and Liam Cooper's shots had not yet met the target.

In the 33rd minute, referee Andre Marriner wins a penalty for Southampton after Tella is thought to have been dropped by Diego Llorente in the area. However, Marriner later overturned his decision after receiving input from VAR officers.

At the end of the first half, Che Adams managed to take advantage of the free-kick situation to find the hosts' goal, but the Southampton goal was later ruled out by Marriner because he believed the free kick had been taken before he blew the whistle.

After a first half that looked under pressure, Leeds opened the second in brilliant fashion when Bamford broke the deadlock just two minutes after further action.

Leeds could have taken a 2-0 lead over Southampton in the 51st minute, if only Roberts could have made better use of Raphinha's bait.

Southampton had difficulty taking advantage of the opportunities they created, even they had to lose Oriol Romeu because of an injury in the 70th minute.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 78th minute when Dallas completed a Helder Costa cross to beat goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Six minutes later, Raphinha snatched an early win for Leeds when she scored her team's third with a free-kick that flew over a live fence beyond McCarthy's effort.

Leeds will play early for matchday 26 of the Premier League at home to Aston Villa at Elland Road, while Southampton have only appeared two days ago at Everton headquarters.
