JAKARTA - Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong said several players in the squad who were undergoing training camp (TC) for the 2021 SEA Games in Jakarta suffered injuries.

However, as quoted by Antara from PSSI's official website in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 23, Shin said the injury was not serious.

"The deteriorating physical condition has injured a number of players, but it's not hard," said the South Korean tactician, who gave his players two to three training sessions per day.

However, neither Shin nor PSSI did not mention who the player suffered from the injury.

What is clear, Shin Tae-yong assesses that all or the 36 players on his team have shown good performance during the TC.

Having practiced since 9 February, the physical condition of Rachmat Irianto and his friends is considered to be improving day by day.

"In the TC, which has been running for two weeks, players have experienced positive developments, their physicality has also improved," said Shin.

In this February TC, coach Shin Tae-yong focused on improving the physical condition of his foster children who had fallen because they had not competed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"For this week, we will provide a training menu with high intensity. In addition, there is strengthening training for each individual player," said Shin.

The 2021 SEA Games are scheduled to take place from November to December in Vietnam. PSSI is targeting a gold medal from this event in order to repeat a similar achievement that was last achieved in 1991.

Based on the SEA Games regulations in 2019, every men's football team must be reinforced by players with a maximum age of 22 years (U-22) and a maximum of two senior players who are over 22 years old.
