JAKARTA - The Asian Football Federation (AFC) has postponed the Group G match schedule for the 2022 Asia Zone World Cup Qualification, which includes the last three matches of the Indonesian national team, from March 2021 to June 2021.

Quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 17, from the official website of PSSI in Jakarta, Wednesday, the match between the Indonesian vs Thailand national team is set for June 3, 2021 from the start on March 25, 2021.

Then Indonesia's match against Vietnam will remain on June 7, 2021, while the match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is moved to June 11, 2021 from March 30, 2021.

"This decision was taken after PSSI and other countries discussed and listened to arguments from the AFC through a virtual meeting. This is of course related to the COVID-19 pandemic which has not subsided and some countries will certainly find it difficult to enter other countries regarding health protocols," said the task force. PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi.

Yunus continued, in the virtual meeting, Indonesia, Vietnam, UAE, Thailand, Malaysia and several other Asian countries also proposed several things related to the continuation of the 2022 World Cup Qualification.

In addition, the AFC has determined that the 2022 Asia Zone World Cup Qualification matches will be held centrally in the designated region.

The new AFC will bid (bidding) for the host of the matches on February 19, 2021.

The Indonesian national team has three matches left in Group G of the 2022 World Cup Qualification for the Asian zone, namely against Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

However, it is certain that the Garuda squad will not be able to continue its work in the World Cup Qualifiers because they always lose out of five Group G matches.
