Anthony Ginting To The Second Round Of Thailand Open II

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting qualified for the second round of the Toyota Thailand Open 2021 (Thailand Open II) after eliminating Indian player Sourabh Verma, Tuesday.

In a match that lasted 36 minutes at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Anthony won easily with a final score of 21-16, 21-11.

Anthony started the first game with a two to three points adrift of the lead before being balanced 9-9 by Verma. However, the world's sixth ranked player again had the opportunity to add points to close the first interval with a score of 11-9.

After the break, Verma drew three times (11-11, 12-12, 13-13). However, Anthony immediately responded by posting seven consecutive points to win 20-13 match points.

The player ranked 30th, Verma, was only able to respond with an additional three points until Anthony successfully ended the first game with a score of 21-16.

The second game made it easier for Anthony. He was far enough ahead with a score of 11-6 to end the second game interval.

The momentum of the match didn't change at all after the interval. Anthony is getting more and more consistent and accelerating to create the biggest difference, which is 19-10. Verma only added one point before Anthony finally closed the match with a score of 21-11.

This victory was recorded as Anthony's third victory over Sourabh Verma. From the two previous meetings, namely the 2017 All England and the 2017 Singapore Open, the match was always won by Anthony.

In the second half, Anthony will meet the winner of the match between the Dutch men's singles Mark Caljouw and Hong Kong representative Lee Cheuk Yiu.

Due to this result, Indonesia has so far only passed three of its representatives to the second round of the Toyota Thailand Open. Apart from Anthony, there was also the men's singles of Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, and the single women of Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

After appearing at the Yonex Thailand Open last week, the world's elite badminton players will continue to compete in the Toyota Thailand Open which will be held on January 19-24 which is still taking place at Impact Arena, Bangkok.

The eight best players or pairs of Road to Bangkok will continue the battle at the BWF World Tour Finals 2020 on January 27-31.
