National Police Chief Gives Orders To Guard Distribution And Implementation Of COVID-19 Vaccinations

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief, General Idham Azis, issued a Telegram Letter containing instructions to regional officials to secure and oversee the distribution and storage of the COVID-19 vaccine. Escorts are also ordered for the vaccination itself.

The Telegram letter numbered: ST / 50 / I / Ops.2. / 2021 dated January 13, 2021, was signed by the Head of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, as the Head of Safe Nusa II for Handling COVID-19 on behalf of the National Police Chief, General Idham Azis.

Agus explained that apart from asking for security and escort, the Chief of Police through a Telegram letter also instructed regional officials to socialize and educate the public about the benefits and importance of vaccination.

"Empower Bhabinkamtibmas to support vaccination by visiting and assisting vaccine recipients to re-register. Involve Babinsa, village heads, heads of hamlets, heads of RT / RW and local Puskesmas," said Komjen Agus Andrianto as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 14 evening.

He said the assistance needed to be done especially for people who did not have cell phones or had their cellphone numbers changed so they did not receive SMS Blast.

"Or people who have received SMS Blast but do not know how to re-register and people who have received SMS Blast but forget or hesitate to re-register," Agus added.

Kabaharkam hopes that the public can follow and make the safe and halal vaccination work for COVID-19 so that transmission of the virus can be stopped immediately.

The free COVID-19 vaccination program for Indonesians started on Wednesday, January 13.

The recipient of the first batch of injection was the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who was joined by a number of representative figures from various elements of society.

The commencement of vaccination at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, was inseparable from the halal fatwa from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the emergency use permit from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

MUI stated that Sinovac's COVID-19 vaccine is holy and halal. Meanwhile, the BPOM stated that the vaccine is safe for injection into humans. Therefore, the vaccination program has the theme "Safe and Halal Vaccines".

Furthermore, the vaccination will be carried out in all provinces, cities and districts in Indonesia.
