In Order To Sign Lionel Messi, MLS Club Prepares Unusual Steps

JAKARTA - Major League Soccer (MLS) or the United States League will make an unusual offer to bring Lionel Messi to their competition. All clubs in MLS will reportedly jointly pay Messi.

Messi now has three months left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, he still has the option to stay in France for another year.

Until now there has been no sign that La Pulga will approve the requirements for a new agreement.

This situation has made Messi widely associated with several clubs since the beginning of the year, including Inter Milan and Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. There are also those who expect Messi to return to Barcelona.

There is also the possibility of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner going to the United States. In fact, 29 clubs in MLS even made unusual offers to be able to bring the Argentine national team player, as quoted by The Sun on Tuesday, March 28.

"All 29 MLS clubs have discussed a unique structure that will make Messi join the league," The Sun wrote.

"Each club has committed to funding the percentage of the attacker's salary of 900 thousand euros per week in the hope that its presence in the league will attract huge commercial profits," the statement continued.

The head of the MLS said if the star agreed it would increase the number of spectators ahead of the 2026 World Cup which will take place in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

At the end of his contract with PSG, Messi still had the opportunity to choose which club to defend. However, various reports state that La Pulga currently prefers to stay in Europe.

Messi, who won the World Cup with Argentina last December, has scored 18 goals in 32 appearances for PSG this season.
