Indonesian Surfer Wins Silver At ISASURF 2022 California USA

JAKARTA - Indonesia's name has soared again in the international arena. This time the good news came from surfing or surfing, where the Indonesian contingent won a silver medal at the ISASURF 202 event in Huntington Beach, California, United States.

The competition organized by the International Surfing Association (ISA) will be held from 6-24 September. This competition is a series of qualifying matches for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Indonesian contingent in the ISASURF 2022 surfing competition included 3 talented athletes from Bali including Dhany Widianto, a newcomer to the ISA competition, I Ketut Agus Aditya Putra who was ranked first in the WSL Qualifying Series Asia Region in 2018, and Rio Waida ranked one in the world challenger series who is also a mainstay. Indonesia with a myriad of achievements in international surfing competitions.

When met by the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles on the 5th day of the match, the coach of the Indonesian contingent, Dylan Amar, from the start of the competition, was optimistic that the Indonesian contingent would get satisfactory results at ISASURF 2022 and could secure Indonesia's quota at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"We believe that Indonesia will always provide satisfactory results, and we hope that next year Rio Waida can maintain the achievements he has achieved so far," said Dylan, quoted from the statement from the Pensosbud of the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles, Monday, September 26.

If his achievements can be maintained, Rio will certainly join the highest caste for surfing.

In a meeting with the athletes, the Indonesian Consul General in Los Angeles, Saud Krisnawan, expressed his full support for the Indonesian surfing contingent, both when competing in the ISASURF competition, as well as other competitions in the Los Angeles accreditation area.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles specifically came on the 5th day to provide support to Rio Waida, who at that time managed to get the highest score and sit at the top of the standings.

After participating in the ISASURF 2022 competition in Huntington Beach, California, United States, Ketut, and Rio will continue their trip to Lisbon, Portugal to take part in the World Surfing League (WSL) competition which is also a series of qualifications leading to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The ISASURF 2022 event this time was attended by more than 200 male and female athletes representing 50 countries, including 3 newcomer countries including Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Afghanistan.
