Supporting Ronaldo's Intention To Leave Manchester United, Luis Nani: He's Not A Kid Anymore

JAKARTA - Former Manchester United star Nani has defended Cristiano Ronaldo's desire to leave the club. He considered his compatriot's reaction to be normal.

Ronaldo still continues to be a byword after asking to leave Old Trafford after completing the 2021/2022 season. Until now the desire is said to still exist despite having appeared in two league matches this season.

The intention to leave Manchester United made some fans disappointed with Ronaldo. They regretted his attitude and behavior and asked the club to release the 37-year-old player.

"It's been a long time since we played together and Cristiano [Ronaldo] is not a kid anymore. Times change and reactions and attitudes can change too," Nani said as reported by the Rio Ferdinand podcast.

"But, as we can see, he does the same as usual; he doesn't like to lose, he reacts when the team doesn't play well."

Many reports say that Ronaldo's intention to leave was motivated by the reason that he could still compete in the European Champions League. United have not played in the event this season after finishing outside the top four last season.

Nani highlights the difference between current Manchester United and Ronaldo's time and rejoins. Conditions that are very contrasting is considered a factor that makes CR7 surprised.

"He is playing again at Man United, but he has played well all over the world in different teams with different players. He is in a team where the managers are trying to build a strong team and it is not easy, it takes time," Nani said.

"For Cristiano, he doesn't have time to lose in building a team or waiting for next season. He wants to continue to be at the top, to score goals. That's why his reaction is normal, we all have the wrong reaction sometimes."

Ronaldo made 38 appearances for Manchester United in various competitions last season and scored 24 goals. His current contract runs until June 2023, but there is an option for a one-year extension.
