JAKARTA - UFC president Dana White has strongly criticized the media for their coverage of interviews he conducted around the pay controversy for MMA fighters.
White was furious at the reaction to the article, which he claimed was a "fun" interview and accused journalists of taking it too seriously.
"You guys are typical assholes, asshole journalists, assholes if you write a story from a GQ interview that's ridiculous and fun and you write a serious paid fighter story about it?" White raved while talking to Yahoo Sports, though he didn't stop there.
"F** you! F* you! F** you! And you should never be able to write again for any medium."
As previously reported, the UFC pays a low price for its fighters and has faced criticism in recent months for their inaction on the issue.
Meanwhile, other organizations such as the NBA and NFL have moved to regulate higher payouts for their players.
"If you don't like it, there's a simple solution to this problem: Create your own MMA organization," White told GQ.
"There are no barriers to entry. Pay them whatever you want to pay.
"It's been done before. What about other people? Not good. Mind your business."
Fans around the world, on the other hand, were dumbfounded by White's anger. Among those taking to social media were some who called White "power drunk" and "crazy" following his decision to yell at reporters via video call.
At the moment, it doesn't look like the UFC will take any action on complaints about the pay of its fighters.
