JAKARTA – Indonesia brought home one title from the Malaysia Open 2022.
The only title was carried by the women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva.
Apriyani/Fadia won their first major title as a new pair after beating China's Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu 21-18, 12-21, 21-19 at Axiata Arena, Sunday, July 3.
Apriyani/Fadia's journey to become a champion in the Super 750 level tournament was extraordinary.
They beat the seeds to reach the final round.
The first big win was defeating the 2022 All England champions Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida in the second round.
Then, another important victory over China's first seed Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan in the quarter-finals.
