Maldini Signs Contract Extension At The Last Minute, Becomes AC Milan Technical Director Until 2024

JAKARTA - Paolo Maldini finally decided to extend his work contract at AC Milan as Technical Director. Interestingly, Maldini signed the contract only one hour before his old contract actually ended.

Quoted from Football Italia, Friday, Maldini is said to have spent several hours at Milan's headquarters with his lawyer to discuss the final details of the contract which details were only sent on Thursday morning local time.

Although he has been at the Rossoneri headquarters since the morning, Maldini finally appeared at 22.20 local time, or only 100 minutes before his previous contract officially ended.

“Everything is sorted. We renewed the contract at the last minute. We left it until the last minute, but we did it (signing) and are ready to plan for the future with more victories," Maldini was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

"There was time, we started a little late, but we will recover the lost time. I'm very happy," continued Maldini about his new tenure.

The same source said that in the new contract, Maldini will serve as the team's Technical Director until 2024. He will also work with his partner, Ricky Massara.

The slow process of approving Maldini's new contract is known because Milan are currently in the process of taking over from American investor RedBird. Where Elliott Management seeks to remain a minority shareholder.
