AFC Cup 2022 ASEAN Zone Semifinal Ticket Competition: PSM Makassar Happy, Bali United Grief

JAKARTA - PSM Makassar has ensured that they qualify for the semifinals of the ASEAN zone of the 2022 AFC Cup. Meanwhile, Bali United is certain to be knocked out of the competition.

This PSM Makassar ticket was held after Kuala Lumpur City Football only narrowly won over Tampines Rovers in the last match of Group H. They only won 2-1 over the Singaporean club.

With that result, Kuala Lumpur CF failed to shift the position of PSM Makassar from the top of the standings. Even though they both collected four points, the team nicknamed Juku Eja was superior on goal difference from the Malaysian club.

Even though they only finished second, Kuala Lumpur CF still qualified for the semifinals of the ASEAN zone. They stepped in with the best runner-up status.

Bali United, who hoped for a ticket with this status, had to bite their fingers. The reason is, they are just one point away from Kuala Lumpur CF.

Actually, Bali United collected six points in Group G. However, the three points thanks to Kaya FC Iloilo's victory in the last match, Thursday, June 30, did not count. The reason is, in Group H occupied by Kuala Lumpur CF only contains three teams.

Actually, Bali United also had a chance to qualify as Group G winners. However, Kedah Darul Aman's 5-1 victory over Visakha FC in the last match, ruined everything. Although both have collected six points, Kedah has the right to top the standings with an advantage on goal difference.
