Once Part Of The Indonesian National Team, Naturalized Player Jhonny Van Beukering Now Works As A Striptease Club Security Guard

JAKARTA - The name of a former footballer from the Netherlands, Jhonny van Beukering, was the talk of the town in Indonesia. He was part of the Indonesian national team in the 2012 era.

Now, the fate of Van Beukering is quite alarming. Currently, he is choosing a new profession which is quite controversial, namely as a security officer at a striptease club called De Nacht in Tilburg City, North Brabant Province, The Netherlands.

Quoted from Voetbal Zone, he runs his profession every weekend. He was forced to take this job due to financial difficulties.

He did all that in order to support his partner and three small children.

"I moved from heaven to hell. People don't know how dark my life is. I have lost everything, absolutely everything," said van Beukering.

"We have to live with our family with fifty euros (equivalent to Rp. 778 thousand) for a week," he said strangely.

Van Beukering's bitterness did not stop there, with uncertain income throughout 2017-2021 making him also in debt.

This situation made him inevitably take up additional work as a volunteer at an organization called Velp-Zuid which is a charity. It was ironic because at that time he was included in the category of people in need.

“I was standing there, in the church or in front of the mosque, handing out food packages from the Food Bank. The food packages that my family and I really need, because we don't have anything at home," said van Beukering.

Based on his complicated life experience, van Beukering then reminded young footballers to be careful in their careers. Because it is possible that an offer to play abroad could actually worsen a stable situation.

"Let this be a warning to other footballers who are planning to embark on foreign adventures in a special country. Think about your money," he said.

Although now undergoing a profession that is contrary to his status as a former athlete, van Beukering has no regrets. He is happy and does not feel ashamed to work as a security guard for a strip club.

“It's an amazing job, getting to see women, who wouldn't want that? This is the best club that ever signed me," said the player who retired early due to injury.
