COVID-19 Makes It More Difficult, Udinese WO Salernitana Because All Team Members Are Under Quarantine

JAKARTA - The Serie A match between Udinese and Salernitana was declared canceled because the visitors did not show up due to a case of COVID infection, so Udinese was declared a WO winner with a score of 3-0.

Previously, it was confirmed that Salernitana could not attend the Dacia Arena because she was ordered to undergo quarantine by the local health authorities (ASL) after three people tested positive for COVID-19 in the team's squad.

However, the management of Serie A and Udinese did not want to postpone the match because the number of COVID cases was not enough to implement the COVID protocol.

Therefore, as was the case with Juventus versus Napoli last year, 45 minutes from kickoff, the officials blew the whistle to ensure this match was not played.

"The Udinese vs Salernitana match was not held because Salernitana did not want to appear," wrote the official Serie A Twitter account quoted by Antara.

Udinese and the referee himself did not enter the field, which disappointed a number of supporters who still came to watch this match in hopes of seeing their favorite players.

Salernitana automatically lost 0-3 in the match, but this match could be played again because last year there was a precedent that Napoli's lawsuit finally led to their match against Juventus being replayed.
