Writer Ajip Rosidi Died

JAKARTA - Literary and humanist Ajip Rosidi died at Tidar Hospital, Magelang City, Central Java, Wednesday, July 29 at 22.30 WIB.

He died at the age of 82. "That's right, I'm 'hither and thither' (taking care of everything, red)," said Ajip Rosidi's son, Nundang Rundagi, who was contacted by Antara.

Ajip is known to be undergoing treatment and surgery at the Tidar Regional Hospital, Magelang City, due to illness since the past week or so, due to falling at his son's house in Pabelan, Mungkid District, Magelang Regency.

According to him, his father Ajip had to undergo surgery because of bleeding in the brain as a result of the fall.

However, Nundang could not provide further information regarding the funeral plans because he was still busy taking care of his father's body.

Ajip himself is a writer from Jatiwangi, Majalengka Regency, West Java. He took great interest in the development of Sundanese language and literature.

Ajip Rosidi has produced hundreds of works in the form of books and written publications. He received an honorary doctorate degree, honoris causa, in the field of cultural sciences from Padjadjaran University in 2011.
