NasDem Doesn't Know Balloons Gunungkidul Regent Purwanto-in-law Of President Jokowi

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali, admitted that his party did not know that the candidate for Regent of Gunungkidul Wahyu Purwanto was President Joko Widodo's brother-in-law.

"We don't know that he has family ties with Pak Jokowi, to this day the NasDem party has never appointed him," Ali said. "Ali said as quoted by Antara at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 29.

In fact, he said, the DPW NasDem Yogyakarta is still in the candidate survey stage, and the results have never been formally proposed to the DPP for decision.

"So it is still in the survey stage, and the DPW has not proposed it to the DPP for later decisions," said the Head of the NasDem Faction of the DPR RI.

It's just that he acknowledged that Purwanto was involved in registering as a candidate for regional head. "Because we open registration openly, one of the registrants is him (Wahyu Purwanto)," said Ali.

However, Ali refused to comment on whether Purwanto resigned or not from his candidacy as Regent of Gunungkidul from the NasDem Party. According to him, the only ones who can answer that are President Jokowi and Wahyu Purwanto himself.

"Yes, maybe the answer is not me as Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, but the candidate himself and Pak Jokowi himself. Because it's an internal problem," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of DPD Nasdem Gunung Kidul Suparjo said the names of Wahyu Purwanto and the Head of the Education, Youth and Sports (Disdikpora) Gunung Kidul Bahron Rasyid had been deposited with the NasDem DPP. "The decision depends on the center," said Suparjo.

Previously, President Jokowi also commented on the news. Jokowi asked the NasDem Party not to nominate his brother-in-law. Jokowi's request was conveyed through Ketum NasDem Surya Paloh.
