SULBAR - The Criminal Investigation Unit of Polewali Mandar Police, West Sulawesi (Sulbar) managed to arrest a housewife related to the criminal case of human trafficking against two minors.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Polewali Mandar Police, Iptu Agung Setyo Negoro, said the perpetrator with the initials C (22) was a resident of Balanipa Subdistrict, Polewali Mandar Regency.

"We have arrested a housewife with the initial C who is suspected of committing a crime of trafficking children or selling or economic/sexual exploitation of minors," Agung told reporters, Antara, Friday, October 29.

The disclosure of the case began with a community report which stated that there were two minors, namely N (17) and F (15) who had been exploited economically/sexually by the alleged perpetrator.

From this report, said Agung Setyo Negoro, the PPA Unit and the Police Criminal Investigation Unit Resmob Team Polewali Mandar immediately conducted an investigation to find out the truth of the information.

"From the results of the investigation, C was then arrested in the Pappang Village area, Campalagian District, Polewali Mandar Regency," he said.

To the police, C admitted that he had engaged in economic/sexual exploitation of the two minors. The perpetrator got to know the two victims through their friends and then asked the victim to work for the masher.

After the victim said yes, the perpetrator then invited the two victims to stay at his house. Next, C contacted a man via cell phone to offer the services of the two victims at a rate of Rp200-Rp300 thousand.

"So, the perpetrators trafficked children or sold or exploited economic/sexual children with a predetermined tariff agreement of Rp. 200 thousand to Rp. 300 thousand," he said.

"From the results of these tariffs, the two child victims serve men or customers, the perpetrators get a profit or a share of the tariff and part of it is given to the two victims," explained Agung Setyo Negoro.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 83 Jo. Article 76F, subsidiary to Article 88 Jo. Article 76I of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a penalty of 10 years in prison.

"The alleged perpetrator admitted to having trafficked or sold or exploited the economic/sexual exploitation of the two children five times to each child in the Campalagian and Wonomulyo sub-districts, Polewali Mandar district," said Agung.
