The Gulkarmat Team For Evacuating Stones Allegedly Of 1700 Historical Relics Buried In TB Simatupang Sidewalks

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) has evacuated historical relics estimated to have existed since 1700 in Pasar Rebo.

Head of Operations for East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, said that residents had previously found the stone partially buried on the sidewalk on Jl. TB Simatupang.

"A few days ago, there was a request from the cultural heritage to remove historical relics for sugar cane milling. It is estimated that from 1700, it was a cultural heritage that had to be secured to the conservation center," said Gatot Sulaeman, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 28.

Gatot said his party deployed a crane to lift the stone which weighs approximately 326 kilograms.

The process of evacuating the stones involved personnel from the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. and Condet Cultural Conservation officers.

"From the Bina Marga team, they dug until they were ready to be lifted. Then the firefighters lifted it in approximately two hours before it could be lifted," said Gatot.

Gatot said the stone was then taken to the Condet Cultural Reserve for further research.
