JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the government is accelerating the progress of COVID-19 vaccination in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

This is done to meet the target of communal immunity or herd immunity when the World Superbike in Manadalika is held in mid-November.

"Efforts to accelerate vaccination towards the 70 percent dose target in NTB continue to be carried out with relatively high achievements," said Wiku in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, October 26.

Currently, the achievement of people who have vaccinated, at least at the first dose, in Mataram City is 92.74 percent, in West Lombok 56.37 percent, in Central Lombok 68.69 percent, in East Lombok 48.29 percent and in Lombok North 69.59 percent.

In addition, the majority of districts/cities in NTB have implemented PPKM Level 1. "Of the five districts/cities in NTB, four of them are at level 1 and only one area is at level 2," said Wiku.

Then, the government has also prepared a mobilization flow for the arrival of spectators who will enter the location so that there is no buildup. Wiku said that this effort was carried out by studying the experience of the XX PON event in Papua some time ago.

"The implementation of the 20th PON in Papua in fact caused only 176 cases out of a total of 10,000 contingents or the positivity rate was around 1.13 percent. It's quite low," he said.

Indonesia will hold the World Superbike (WSBK) in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on 19-21 November.

The government decided that the number of spectators was limited to 25,000 people on the condition that they had received two doses of vaccination. Then, there is a quarantine for the entire team for five days.

A health protocol task force will be formed for supervision at the event location, providing masks for free, as well as supervision carried out by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, TNI, and Polri.
