Residents Of Koja Poisoned After Distribution Of Rice Boxes, PSI: The Owner Of The Stall Has Apologized To Us And The Residents

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPW PSI Michael Victor Sianipar opened his voice over the incident of dozens of residents of Koja, North Jakarta having food poisoning after being distributed rice boxes (rice boxes) by his party cadres.

Michael insists PSI does not make the food itself. PSI, according to him, ordered a rice box from a stall.

"We are following up and investigating the owner of the shop. The owner of the shop has also apologized to us and to the residents who have had food poisoning. We will ensure that something similar does not happen," Michael said when contacted, Monday, October 25.

Michael said that the food distribution activities carried out by PSI were a collaboration with the public, then ordered at stalls and MSMEs.

So far, continued Michael, more than 300 thousand rice boxes have been distributed by PSI throughout Indonesia.

"The essence of PSI's rice box is to support MSMEs affected by the pandemic and we buy food from these MSMEs, so that the people's economy will be more vibrant," he explained.

For this incident, Michael admitted that he had coordinated with the puskesmas and Koja Hospital to ensure that residents received treatment. He also apologized to the residents who were poisoned.

"We apologize for things that we did not expect. We have also provided assistance for victims of food poisoning," he said.

For information, as many as 35 residents of Koja Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta were poisoned after receiving the distribution of rice boxes from PSI cadres on Sunday, October 24.

The distribution of food was carried out spontaneously by PSI with the aim of caring for the residents. They distributed 89 food boxes containing rice with side dishes of eggs, beans, and tempeh orek.

Apparently, 3 hours later, 35 residents felt nauseated, dizzy, and vomited. Until finally, there were 24 residents who were taken to Koja Hospital for treatment and 11 people decided to stay at home.

Of the dozens of residents who seek treatment, most have been allowed to go home and 5 residents have been hospitalized.
