Police investigate truck driver extortion case at Kalideres Police Station

JAKARTA – A truck driver in Kalideres, who recently went viral on social media, has been arrested by the Kalideres sector police. The perpetrator with the initials ME, was arrested by officers at his home, in Kampung Kopti, RT 07/011, Semanan, Kalideres, West Jakarta.

"It took us less than 24 hours to extort a truck driver in Kalideres which went viral on social media," said Kalideres Police Chief AKP Hasoloan when confirmed, Monday, October 25, morning.

Furthermore, the Sector Police Chief said that the arrests after the perpetrators' actions went viral on social media because their actions often disturbed the public. After receiving information about the alleged extortion, the criminal investigation unit of the Kalideres Police immediately pursued the perpetrator according to the identity that the police had known.

"The evidence that was secured was the hat and clothes used by the perpetrators when committing crimes," he said.

The perpetrator was suspected of extortion because it was his job. The perpetrator's mode of extorting money from the driver, continued the Police Chief, is used for daily life.

"The perpetrator asked the truck driver for money to buy food and buy cigarettes. The suspect admitted that it was the first time he had done this," he said.

Even though they have been arrested, the Kalideres Police are still waiting for a report from the victim. The reason is, until the perpetrator was arrested, the Police had not received the report.

"We urge people who are victims to immediately make a report to the Kalideres Police," he said.
