Ganjar Pranowo Asks Mountain Residents To Be Prepared For Earthquake Fault Movement

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked residents in mountainous areas to be alert in the event of an earthquake due to fault movement, so as to reduce the risk of disasters caused.

"I remind other areas to be alert, such as the central mountains, namely Wonosobo, Temanggung, Purworejo, Purbalingga, Cilacap, Banyumas, which are prone to landslides," said Ganjar Pranowo in Semarang, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 24.

Ganjar explained that the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of Central Java Province together with the geological team continued to monitor the movement of the fault which resulted in a series of earthquakes in Salatiga City and Semarang Regency.

"This continues to be monitored, whether the balance has been reached, because the team is still working, it is assumed that we must be alert in fault areas," he said.

As a follow-up to the handling of the earthquake in Salatiga City and Semarang Regency, Ganjar claimed to have communicated with the regional heads in the two regions.

Ganjar Pranowo asked for an immediate call to action involving Forkompimda and volunteers as a form of preparedness in dealing with disasters during the rainy season, not only earthquakes.

According to him, the alert is part of the socialization to all parties in an effort to reduce disaster risk.

"At several disaster-prone points, I ask for an evacuation simulation to be carried out using all existing capabilities and equipment, so that rescues can be carried out faster and reduce disaster risk," said Ganjar.

The BMKG has recorded that there have been a series of earthquakes in Salatiga, Banyubiru, Bawen, and Ambarawa, Central Java since Saturday, October 23 at 00.32 WIB, triggered by an active fault.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 7.296 South Latitude and 110.38568 East Longitude, precisely on land at a distance of 13 km northwest of Salatiga City with a hypocenter depth of 6 km.

The results of the BMKG analysis show that the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.0 followed by seven series of aftershocks, with a magnitude of 2.9, then 2.5, then 2.6 and 2.1 and 3.0 and 2.7 which occurred at 6.44.56 WIB.

BMKG recorded at least 31 aftershocks that occurred until Sunday afternoon.
