KUNINGAN - The chairman of the DPD RI, AA La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, admitted that he was very interested in a study in the United States regarding the Corona virus vaccine for children. The study said the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was said to be up to 90.7% effective against COVID-19 in children. This is based on clinical trials conducted on children aged five to 11 years.

If the research is true, La Nyalla considers it good news. This is because children under 12 years of age have not received the proper COVID-19 vaccination until now. "I think that's good news. The government needs to respond and needs to immediately take concrete steps regarding the COVID-19 vaccine for children so that we can reduce the potential for lost generation," said La Nyalla, in a written statement Sunday, October 24.

He hopes that the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities will pay attention to the results of the research. Indonesian researchers also need to take quick steps in proving the veracity of the efficacy of the type of vaccine in question. "If it is true that the level of efficacy or efficacy and accuracy, we hope that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will soon get the green light for its use so that it can be injected into children immediately," he said.

La Nyalla added, although the COVID-19 death rate in children is lower than adults, this cannot be ruled out. Moreover, now the government has started face-to-face learning. According to him, vaccination is important so that parents and children feel comfortable and safe following PTM.

"There are still concerns from parents, especially those of elementary and kindergarten age who participate in face-to-face learning because there is no vaccine for children of that age.
