JAKARTA - Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Suket, explained the chronology of the evacuation process for victims who were crushed by a collapsed building on Jalan Satu Maret, RT 01/03, Pegadungan Village, Kalideres District, West Jakarta.

Initially, in the first evacuation process, Gulkarmat officers evacuated a woman named Ita (40) who was already in critical condition. After sweeping the wreckage site, officers again found a child victim with the initials A, aged 1 year and 4 months. A was also found in critical condition.

The two victims were a mother and a small child. But after undergoing treatment, both died.

"Initially it was found that the victim was still alive. The two victims were taken to the hospital but their lives could not be saved. Both of them died," Suket told reporters, Saturday, October 23, evening.

The evacuation process was completed at around 23.05 WIB. Ita and A are mother and daughter. Both live in a house owned by her husband, Amran (55).

"So there are two victims in total, Ita and her child named Ardiansyah. The house belongs to Amran, who is the father and husband of the victim," he said.

Until now, the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) is still investigating the cause of the collapsed building, killing two mothers and children.

"The cause is still under investigation," he said.
