DKI Bina Marga Office Gets Additional Budget Of IDR 16.6 Billion, PSI: All Citizens Have The Right To Get Smooth Roads

JAKARTA - The DKI Bina Marga Department received an additional budget of Rp. 16.6 billion in the General Policy for Revising the Regional Budget and the Priority of the Temporary Budget Platform (KUPA-PPAS) in 2021. One of the budget items is periodic road maintenance.

This was revealed in a discussion meeting regarding the Draft Regional Regulation on Amendments to the DKI Regional Budget for the 2021 fiscal year at Commission D of the DKI DPRD.

Therefore, Member of the PSI faction of the DKI DPRD, August Hamonangan, assessed that the ranks of the subordinates of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan were able to repair all damaged roads in Jakarta.

"With an additional budget of Rp 16.6 billion, there should be no more complaints from residents about damaged roads and potholes," August told reporters, Friday, October 22.

Last March, the Jakarta Highways Office noted that there were 8,998 damaged road points in Jakarta. August asked for the repair to be done immediately.

According to him, road repairs should not only be focused on protocol roads for the beauty of the city center. The reason is that road damage occurs evenly, including in villages and housing estates throughout Jakarta.

"All Jakarta residents have the right to feel smooth roads, not only those who have offices in the Sudirman-Thamrin high-rise building," he said. He continued, smooth roads should be felt by Jakarta residents, even to villages. Considering that many residents carry out activities such as going to the market, going to the office, going to school, or going to recreation areas using motorized vehicles.

August also urged the Bina Marga Office to move quickly to repair damaged roads, considering that the rainy season has now entered and damaged roads can increase the risk of road users' accidents.

"The budget is available, the Highways Office has no more reason to repair damaged roads, don't wait for public complaints, go directly to the field and fix it immediately. Don't let people's safety be threatened by neglecting to repair roads," he concluded.
