BPBD Malang Has Not Received Report On Damage Due To Earthquake

MALANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Malang Regency stated that it had not received any reports of damage due to an earthquake measuring 5.3.

The acting Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the BPBD of Malang Regency, Sadono Irawan, said that currently, his party is still gathering information related to the impact of the disaster.

"So far, there have been no reports of damage, nor any casualties," said Sadono as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 22.

Sadono added that the people of Malang Regency and its surroundings who felt the shock caused by the earthquake were expected not to panic, but remain vigilant. The earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

"Hopefully there will be no damage. We ask residents to remain calm and be vigilant," he said.

Malang City BPBD Head Alie Mulyanto also said the same thing, so far there have been no reports related to damage or casualties due to the earthquake.

"Until now we have not received any reports related to damage, and victims due to the earthquake this morning," he said.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) of the Batu City BPBD has also not received any reports of damage and casualties due to an earthquake in the southern region of Malang Regency.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 rocked the Malang Regency, East Java, on Friday, around 9.21 a.m. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 8.85 South Latitude and 112.51 East Longitude, with a depth of 33 kilometers.

The earthquake shocks were felt in a number of areas, including Malang City, Malang Regency, and Batu City or the Greater Malang area. The earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
