JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) is investigating the alleged leak and hacking of online complaint data belonging to the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).
"We are investigating it," said the spokesman for the Ministry of Communication and Information, Dedy Permadi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 21.
The complaint data in the KPAI (online) network is allegedly leaked and traded on the RaidForums dark site.
KPAI Commissioner Jasra Putra stated that the leaked data allegedly came from the online complaint service on the KPAI official website.
"We have an online complaint system based on the kpai.go.id website, it is suspected that this data was hacked," said Jasra.
Hackers are suspected of stealing KPAI's online complaint data and then selling it on the RaidForums website, it is not yet known what the price was offered for this data and how much data they stole.
Screenshot circulating on social media, hackers created a thread entitled "KPAI Leaked Database" to sell the data.
In the thread, the hacker provided sample data including full name, email address, gender, date of birth, religion and nationality.
KPAI plans to report the alleged hacking and leaked data to the police. According to Jasra, KPAI has submitted the case to the National Police Headquarters and a team has already checked it on Tuesday, October 19.
