Bedouin Community Asks To Build Auxiliary Health Center At The Border: We Are Difficult To Get Medical Services

JAKARTA - The Bedouin community in the interior of Lebak Regency, Banten Province asked for the construction of a auxiliary health center (Pustu) on the border to provide health services.

"It is very difficult for us to get medical services because the distance is quite far up to 30 kilometers if we go to the Cisimeut Health Center," said the Badui Indigenous Elder who is also the Head of Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Jaro Saija in Lebak, as reported by Antara, Thursday, October 21.

The Bedouin community with a population of 11,800 people spread over 68 villages certainly requires the construction of a pustu.

The construction of the pustu is at five gates that enter the Bedouin settlement.

The Pustu request was submitted to SOE Minister Erick Thohir when he visited the location of the fire in Pasir Huni Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Wednesday.

So far, he said, residents have had difficulty getting access to health services, because of the long distance to the main health center in Ciboleger.

Due to the remote location, of course, the Bedouin people are quite complaining about the health service.

Moreover, pregnancies that are poisoned or bleeding profusely must be treated by medical personnel immediately.

"If the medics are slow, of course it can cause fatalities," said Jaro Saija.

According to Saija, there are five gates to enter Bedouin settlements, including Ciboleger, Nangerang, Sobang, Cijahe and Muncang.

However, the gate does not have a pustu.

"We ask the SOE Minister to provide CSR for the construction of pustu, because the Badui do not receive village funds," he said.

He said the construction of the pustu is to approach health services, where the Bedouin community is now having difficulty accessing medical services.

In addition, medical personnel working at the Pustu are active and equipped with ambulances.

"We hope that the medical staff will actively serve the health for 24 hours," he added.

Meanwhile, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said he was ready to realize the construction of pustu for the health of the Bedouin community at the border.

The possibility of the construction of the Pustu involves the Task Force for 34 SOEs in Banten.

"We are now prioritizing rebuilding houses for residents affected by fires as well as possibly equipped with health facilities," he said.
