Tragic! Sumatran Tiger Caught In The BKSDA Trap, Injured Leg And Thin Body

JAKARTA - A female Sumatran tiger (Phantera tigris sumaterae) aged 10-12 years has been caught. Previously, the tiger was in a trap cage installed by the Jambi BKSDA.

Now the tiger will soon undergo rehabilitation before being returned to its habitat again.

The head of the Jambi BKSDA, Rahmat, said the tiger, which was captured in Air Batu Village, Merangin Regency, Jambi, was still undergoing rehabilitation at the Mendalo BKSD Animal Rescue Center (TPS). Officers are still trying to maintain their wild instincts so that there are no problems when they are returned to their natural habitat.

The Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) was forced to install the trap cage. The reason is that since September 25, 2021, there has been a conflict between humans and wild tigers in Renah Pembaharap District, Merangin Regency.

As a result, two people died and one person was injured. The three victims were attacked by tigers respectively in Guguk Village, Air Batu Village, and Marus Jaya Village, the three were in Renah Pembaharap District, Merangin Regency,

The first victim on 25 September 2021 on behalf of Rasidi (30) died in Guguk Village, then on 11 October 2021 the second victim Pami (62), who suffered injuries occurred in Marus Jaya Village, and lastly on 13 October 2021 the victim was named Abu Bakar (21) died in Air Batu Village, quoted from Antara.

On Friday, October 15, 2021, the Jambi BKSDA set a trap, and finally a day later the tiger that was troubling the residents managed to enter the trap and was evacuated.

When entering the trap, the tigress, which has a length of about 180 cm, was thin and had a snare wound on her right front leg, said Rahmat.

The tiger was evacuated without anaesthesia because the tiger's condition was weak and it was hoped that after being rehabilitated his condition would improve.
