PAPUA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin visited the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) Pniel Kotaraja in Jayapura. This visit is part of the agenda of his working visit to Papua.

During his visit, the Vice President reviewed the implementation of the health protocol at the house of worship and ensured that church administrators and church congregants adhered to the health protocol.

"Thank you for your contribution so far. Hopefully we can continue to struggle to develop the people, invite them to the path of goodness and protect themselves from various dangers, especially from COVID-19," said Ma'ruf Amin in a statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Vice President's Secretariat (BPMI Setwapres), Saturday.

The vice president also appreciated the tolerance and harmony between religious communities in Papua which was also guarded by the GKI Pniel congregation.

"I heard that in Papua and West Papua, this harmony is well maintained. Hopefully we can continue to maintain this harmony," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the GKI Congregation, Pniel Kotaraja, Pastor Didimus EA Watopa, said that all church members adhered to strict health protocols during worship.

In addition, GKI Peniel Kotaraja also implements the occupancy of people during worship at the church to a maximum of 50 percent of its usual capacity.

"In this era of pandemic we have limited it to 50 percent, with three times of worship a week," said Didimus.
