After The Deputy Mayor Of Solo Tested Positive For COVID-19, Gibran Performs A Swab Test

JAKARTA - Candidate for mayor of Solo in the 2020 Mayor Election of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka will undergo a COVID-19 swab test. This test was conducted after the Deputy Mayor of Solo, Achmad Purnomo, tested positive for COVID-19 after he traveled to Jakarta for a meeting with President Joko Widodo, Thursday, July 16.

This was conveyed by Gibran when he was about to close the webinar connection held by the DPP PDI Perjuangan related to candidates for young regional heads and political dynasties.

"I want to continue my examination after the rapid test, I want this swab test. I have been waiting for the doctor," he said before closing the webinar connection, Friday, July 24.

Although he said he had carried out a rapid test, Gibran did not elaborate on the results of the test.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would carry out a swab test faster than usual. This was done after the Deputy Mayor of Solo, Achmad Purnomo, was confirmed positive for COVID-19 after undergoing two swab tests after meeting with President Joko Widodo, Thursday, July 16.

"The president and all his apparatus will soon speed up the swab test schedule. The President's schedule is today a routine medical test," said Head of Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono when contacted by reporters, Friday, July 24.

However, he remains confident that the President and his staff and staff at the Presidential Palace remain safe from COVID-19. Moreover, his swab test result was negative.

"I am sure and I hope that the palace will remain sterile. For example, I just swabed yesterday and the results were negative and I often and every day interact with the President," he said.

It is known that a positive result was received by Achmad Purnomo after he underwent a swab test on Friday, July 17 after he met President Jokowi.

The day after that, Saturday, July 18, he again ran the swab test at the direction of the Surakarta City Health Office. After undergoing two tests, he later tested positive for COVID-19.

Previously, Purnomo met President Jokowi on Thursday, July 16 at the State Palace, Jakarta. This meeting was held before the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) made recommendations for President Joko Widodo's eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka to advance in the 2020 Pilwalkot Solo.
