Jokowi Doesn't Want To Miss Enjoying The Sunset In Labuan Bajo From The Best Place

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo found the best location to be able to enjoy the Labuan Bajo area. The best sunset at this location is in the Puncak Waringin area, precisely in Kompas Bajo.

Yori Antar, the architect who designed Kompas Bajo, called it the best place to enjoy the Labuan Bajo area. From here, whoever he is, can enjoy a sunset view three times better than anywhere else.

"Here we can see the sunset, the silhouettes of the islands, and the silhouettes of hundreds of phinisi boats," said Yori, Thursday, October 14.

Kompas Bajo was built in the style of a traditional Manggarai house. The building with a conical roof is also a creative hub for the creative economy community in East Nusa Tenggara, especially Labuan Bajo, which contains a souvenir center, ikat weaving center, lounge, souvenir center, and so on.

Previously, President Joko Widodo had inaugurated the arrangement of the Puncak Waringin Area, Batu Cermin Area, and eight roads in Labuan Bajo during his working visit to East Nusa Tenggara Province. The inauguration ceremony of the three was carried out simultaneously in Puncak Waringin, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency.

"Alhamdulillah, the construction of various infrastructures to support tourism in Labuan Bajo has been completed and Labuan Bajo is ready to welcome the arrival of tourists," said the President.

After a massive restructuring was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and the Ministry of Transportation, the President saw that Labuan Bajo's face had completely changed. Infrastructure in Labuan Bajo is complete, such as the airport, whose runway and terminal will be developed next year.

“Then we also saw that hotels, souvenir centers, creative hubs, amphitheaters, plazas, citywalks and other public spaces have all been repaired. I see that the change in face is very visible, as well as supporting tourism infrastructure such as roads around the area, as well as ports that specifically serve phinisi, yachts, and cruises, everything is ready," he explained.

After being inaugurated today, said Jokowi, what needs to be done immediately is a massive promotion and prepare Labuan Bajo for holding national and international events.

"Later on, this will support the implementation of the G20 Summit and we will also use it for the ASEAN Summit in 2023," he said.

For information, the arrangement of the Puncak Waringin National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) will be carried out starting in August 2019 and completed in March 2021 with an area of which is arranged covering 0.39 hectares. Meanwhile, the Batu Cermin KSPN began to receive arrangement in March 2020 and was completed in March 2021 with an area of 2.9 hectares.

Previously, when going to Puncak Waringin, President Joko Widodo asked to visit Marina Beach first. At this location, the President reviewed the KSPN arrangement for Marina Bukit Pramuka Beach, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency.
