Invitation To Chief Of Police Sigit During Gathering With PCNU Banyuwangi, Strengthen COVID-19 Handling

BANYUWANGI - TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo held a friendly meeting with the Banyuwangi Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch Manager, Thursday, October 14, 2021.

In this activity, Sigit expressed his gratitude and appreciation for getting a warm welcome.

In his remarks, Sigit also recalled how his career journey as a member of the National Police could not be separated from the existence of NU. In fact, since he was still the Chief of Police until now, he has become the Chief of the National Police.

"We synergize with each other in activities that are needed to maintain a conducive security and social security situation," said Sigit in an official statement, Thursday, October 14.

The former Banten Police Chief also admits that he has been a big part of NU's family for a long time and will continue to do so at any time.

"I feel like I've been a big NU family since a long time ago and this will continue forever," said Sigit.

On this occasion, the former Police Criminal Investigation Unit discussed how the handling of COVID-19 in Banyuwangi, East Java was quite good. From the report he received, the vaccination rate in Banyuwangi has reached 60 percent.

This, said Sigit, cannot be separated from the participation of the Regional Government, religious leaders, community leaders and the entire community.

"Because if you don't get involved, it's hard to reach 60 percent. I'm with the Panglima all the time trying to find out how the vaccination campaign can be carried out. There are also some areas that have been invaded and it's still tough, 29 percent, 30 percent. So if Banyuwangi has reached 60 percent , I give appreciation," said Sigit.

He also asked for the achievement of this vaccination to continue to be increased so that the growth rate of COVID-19 could be suppressed. Currently, Banyuwangi Regency has entered PPKM level 1. This will certainly have an impact on easing community activities.

"PPKM level 2 or 1 is much looser so that people can carry out their activities as normal, but not yet normal," said Sigit. Even though the Banyuwangi area is already at PPKM level 1, Sigit reminded that the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia is not over yet. Nationally, the vaccination rate must reach 70 percent to achieve herd immunity.

For this reason, he continues to ask the public, especially in the Banyuwangi area, to maintain health protocols (prokes) so that the number of COVID-19 in Indonesia does not increase again.

"This is of course our joint homework to really be able to maintain. We remember last July we were once where the daily number of COVID-19 was 56 thousand cases. That is an event that we have been through and this must not happen again. We remain vigilant, we can be happy but remain vigilant. By remembering that it used to be, today we keep it so that it doesn't happen again, "said Sigit.

Furthermore, he hopes that the vaccination rate in Banyuwangi will increase by 70 percent by the end of October. He was also sure because the PCNU report asked for increased vaccination attacks.

"So there are no more people who are afraid of vaccines and all are waiting for vaccinations. Only the Health Office, vaccinators of the Indonesian National Police, volunteers who join forces to strengthen and increase the rate of injections so that the rate of daily achievement of vaccinations can match the predetermined targets," said Sigit.
