MEULABOH - The Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has brought in a tiger handler to deal with the presence of a Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), which entered a resident's plantation in the Seuleukat area, East Bakongan District, South Aceh Regency.

Head of Region II BKSDA Subulussalam Aceh, Hadi Sofyan, said the tiger handler who was brought in was named Syarwani from Meulaboh, the capital of West Aceh Regency.

"We deliberately brought in a handler to help deal with tiger disturbances in South Aceh," said Sofyan, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 13.

He said that tigers were known to enter plantations in the South Aceh area, after they received reports from the community.

They hope that with the presence of the tiger handler in South Aceh, the disturbance of the country's protected wildlife will be resolved.

Previously, Sofyan asked the community not to approach the plantation area where the tiger was reported because it was not yet known how the condition of the Sumatran tiger was.

"The Aceh BKSDA team is still at the location, trying to get the tigers back into the forest. Hopefully, the tigers will stay away from the plantations, so residents can carry out activities as usual in their gardens," said Sofyan.
