Man In Banyuwangi Hanged Himself, Had Said To Neighbors 'If The Door Is Closed, I've Committed Suicide'

BANYUWANGI - Residents of Badean Village, Blimbingsari District, Banyuwangi, were shocked by the death of a middle-aged man with the initials SH (58).

SH was found dead by hanging himself. The victim was allegedly stressed because he could not live alone.

The head of the Rogojampi Sector Police, Kompol Sudarsono, said the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 12 evening. The victim was found hanging in his house.

"This incident was first noticed by a neighbor who was about to pray at that time", said Police Commissioner Sudarsono, Wednesday, October 13.

When passing, neighbors saw the victim's house was still dark. Neighbors then tried to knock on the door of the house but the victim did not respond.

"At 9 pm, the house was still dark. When called the victim did not respond, finally, when the door was opened and the lights were turned on, the victim was found hanging", said Sudarsono.

Allegedly, he said, the victim was depressed because he couldn't live alone. The victim had long been abandoned by his wife.

"Before this incident, the victim had told his neighbors he was going to commit suicide. Previously, he had also made a will to the neighbors if for example the door was closed and he didn't leave the house, it means he had committed suicide", said Sudarsono.

After the incident, the victim was immediately evacuated by the local health center staff and the funeral procession was immediately carried out.
