Police Arrest Village Head In Bengkulu Suspect For Corruption In Village Funds Rp287 Million

BENGKULU - The North Bengkulu Police Team arrested the Head of Batu Layang Village, Hulu Palik District, North Bengkulu Regency, Iskandar Zl (40) on suspicion of corruption in the 2019 Village Fund (DD) budget. The state loss due to this corruption case amounted to Rp. 287 million.

"In 2019 the Batu Layang Village government received village funds of IDR 734 million which was used to build villages and village empowerment, it turned out that IDR 287 million could not be accounted for," said North Bengkulu Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Jerry Nainggolan quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 12.

AKP Jerry said that based on the results of the investigation and the suspect's confession, the funds were used by the perpetrators to meet their daily needs.

According to AKP Jerry, the suspect as the person in charge did not complete the construction work in 2019 and has used the village funds for his personal interests.

"The suspect used the funds with a loan mode, but until now the funds have not been returned by the perpetrators," he said.

"Although the funds are not in accordance with the RAB and until now the SPJ for the 2019 Village Fund for Batu Layang Village has not been made and cannot be accounted for," he said.

After an investigation by the Tipidikor Unit of the North Bengkulu Police Sat Reskirm, it was found a state loss of around Rp. 284 million.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999. 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
