KUDUS - A number of damaged elementary school (SD) classrooms in Kudus Regency, Central Java have increased again. Previously, there were 4 elementary schools with damaged classrooms. This condition was also experienced by SD 4 Undaan whose roof collapsed.

According to the Principal of SD 4 Undaan, Karsono, there were two classrooms whose roofs had collapsed. The first was in 2019 and the last this year. All incidents have been reported to the Office of Education, Youth and Sports Kudus.

"We were also promised that we would get a budget in 2020 to repair the collapsed classrooms. In fact, there is no budget for repairs so far," he said in Kudus as reported by Antara, Monday, October 11.

Considering that there are only 40 students for grades 1-6, it may be difficult to get a repair budget for the two SD 3 rooms in Undaan Kidul Village, Undaan District, Kudus Regency.

What's more, SD 3 is currently combined with SD 4 which is both in Undaan Kidul Village.

Meanwhile, the student's parents, he said, were reluctant to move because the distance from SD 4 was about 3 kilometers so that their children were not allowed to ride their bicycles to the school alone.

For this reason, students in grades 2 and 3 are forced to take advantage of other classrooms which are divided into two rooms for each class.

Previously, it was recorded that there were four primary schools that were damaged first, namely SD 4 Prambatan Kidul, SD 3 Bakalan Krapyak, SD 3 Payaman and SD Garung Lor.

The Head of the Youth and Sports Education Office of Kudus Harjuna Widada admitted that SD 3 Undaan had indeed been merged with SD 4 due to the lack of students, so that later it would remain one with SD 4.

"Even if there are damaged classrooms, later students will still occupy the existing classrooms in SD 4 which are indeed suitable for use for teaching and learning activities," he said.

Related to this, in the near future, it will be disseminated to parents so that they can accept and are willing to send their children to SD 4, said Harjuna Widada.
