Many Dynamics, Indonesia Only Gets 20 Million Doses Of Novavax Vaccine

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said Indonesia only received 20 million doses of the planned 50 million doses of Novavax vaccine. He revealed that this happened because of the dynamics of the supply of vaccine doses.

"There is a dynamic in the form of vaccine supply, so we plan to receive Novavax which was 50 million this year, maybe we will receive only 20 million," Budi said in a press conference that was broadcast online on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, October 11.

So, to cover the gap, the government will seek from other sources, especially vaccine doses that can be immediately sent to Indonesia.

"Perhaps the main priority is the Sinovac vaccine," said the former Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.

Minister of Health Budi also explained that the number of COVID-19 vaccines that have been received by the government has reached 226 million doses. Of which 205 million doses have been distributed to regions, 5 million doses are on the way, and 160 million doses have been injected into the community.

"So that in the next two or three days there will still be a stock of 50 million doses in 34 provinces which should be enough for us to catch the injection," said Budi.

As for the number of injections of the COVID-19 vaccine, he said there have been 100 million people who have received the first dose. Meanwhile, 50 million people have received the complete vaccine.

"This puts us in the fifth position of all countries in the world that have obtained access to vaccines from the number of humans. Five countries in the world have more than 100 million people being injected," said Budi.

"We also see that the rate of this injection has also crossed the two million dose per day on September 23 and 25. It is hoped that in the future we will increasingly penetrate the two million dose of injection per day," he concluded.
