'Special Attention' Case Of Alleged Rape Of Children In East Luwu

JAKARTA - The National Police finally paid special attention to the case of alleged child rape in East Luwu, South Sulawesi. The form is by mobilizing a team to overcome these problems.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, stated that the team sent to the South Sulawesi Police, especially the East Luwu Police, was the Investigative Supervisory Bureau (Wassidik).

"Yes, the Wassidik team will go to East Luwu to provide assistance," Argo said in a statement, Saturday, October 9.

Later, the team will re-analyze to ensure that the investigation process for the alleged rape has been carried out according to the rules. Moreover, until it was decided to stop.

In addition, Karo Penmas of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said that one of the steps taken by the Bareskrim team was more about the audit process.

"The team will conduct an audit of the police measures that have been taken by investigators in handling this case," said Rusdi.

However, the Bareskrim team will also take other steps. For example, will provide assistance.

This means, if the investigation process of this case is reopened, then the Criminal Investigation Team will also help. Starting from giving directions related to handling.

"This assistance directs, helps than for new investigators to carry out investigative steps that are in accordance with applicable rules. Thus, investigators' steps in conducting investigations can be accounted for," said Rusdi.

The development of this case is increasingly leading to the possibility of reopening the investigation process.

This is because, recently, the Head of the East Luwu Police, AKBP Silvester Simamora, met the families of the children who were said to be rape victims. From the results of the meeting, they stated that they would provide new evidence.

"The families of the three children will provide new evidence on Tuesday, October 12. The police will wait for the evidence to be handed over," said Silvester.

However, the form of the new evidence that will be submitted by the family is not yet certain. But chances are, the evidence is in the form of a medical post-mortem.

Regardless of the form of evidence, said Silvester, his party will examine it first after the evidence is submitted. Then, a case will be held to determine whether or not the evidence can be the basis for re-investigating the alleged rape case.

"Police will examine the evidence that will be provided and carry out a case to determine whether or not it can be reopened," said Silvester.
