YOGYAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy provides discretion for children under the age of 12 to enter tourist attractions. It is undeniable, parents tend to bring their children when traveling.

"Discretion can be given with several conditions, such as that the father and mother have been fully vaccinated," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno on the sidelines of a visit to Yogyakarta's Rejowinangun Tourism Village, Antara, Friday, October 8.

According to him, if the father and mother of children under 12 years of age have been fully vaccinated, then parents can access the QR Code for the PeduliLindung application, which must be present at every tourist attraction.

He hopes that with this discretion, parents will no longer find it difficult to invite children under 12 years of age to travel.

However, Sandi reminded, the granting of waivers is also accompanied by increased responsibility from local governments to immediately complete vaccinations. Ensure health protocols as well as tracing and testing run well.

"Hopefully, tourism can move again but still be safe and free of COVID-19," he said.

As for the opening of DIY to accept foreign tourists, continued Sandiaga, it needs to be done with much more mature preparation so that currently the ministry is only focused on opening Bali to accept foreign tourists.

“We also have to remain careful because there are new variants. Still to be anticipated. Because Bali is a separate island, it can be localized. If in DIY, it is feared that it will seep into other areas. So we need more preparation," he said.

Meanwhile, Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi welcomed the granting of waivers for 12-year-old children to be allowed to enter tourist attractions.

"But this policy must be carried out simultaneously throughout DIY because DIY is a tourist agglomeration area," he said.

For this reason, continued Heroe, all tourist attractions must comply with regulations such as the provision of a QR Code that is integrated with the PeduliLindung application.

"Now we encourage all tourist destinations and public areas to immediately complete the CHSE certification and QR Code PeduliLindung," he said.
