JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned of the potential for heavy rains in several areas with the monitoring of tropical cyclone seeds near Indonesian territory which increases the potential for rain clouds.

Citing Antara, according to an early weather warning quoted from the BMKG website in Jakarta, Friday, October 8, several areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and lightning are Aceh, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, West Java, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Kalimantan. East, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

Other areas that have the potential to experience rain with lighter intensity are the Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung Islands, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, North Maluku and West Papua.

Meanwhile, strong winds have the potential to occur in South Sumatra.

BMKG warned that several areas were included in the flood alert category due to the weather today, namely Bengkulu, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

The potential for rain in Indonesia to increase is influenced by the observed Tropical Depression A in the South China Sea which moves to the northwest with the potential to become a tropical cyclone. In addition, Tropical Cyclone Seed 93W was also observed in the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines and is predicted to move westward.

The two systems form a meeting area and wind speed slowdown or convergence. These conditions can increase the potential for rain cloud growth around tropical cyclone seed areas, confluence areas, and convergence areas.
