JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the active period of reserve troops is not every day but only when needed. So, he asked for thousands of spare components to return to their normal activities.

"The reserve component is active not every day, not every time. After this determination, you will return to your respective professions. Members of the reserve component will continue to work as usual," said President Jokowi when setting the reserve component at the Pusdiklatpassus, Bandung, Thursday, October 7th.

He said the reserve component was only active during training and during mobilization. "But members of the reserve component are always on standby if the state calls them," said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

Jokowi said thousands of these reserve components would only be deployed when the country was in a state of martial law or a state of war. The deployment will also be mobilized by the President with the approval of the Indonesian House of Representatives whose command is in the hands of the TNI Commander.

"This means that there are no reserve component members who carry out independent activities," said Jokowi.

On that occasion, he thanked the people who had voluntarily registered in this program. This, said Jokowi, is in line with the rights and obligations of citizens to participate in efforts to defend and defend the country.

"I would like to thank those of you who have registered voluntarily, have participated in the selection process and basic military training voluntarily, and today you are appointed as members of the reserve component," he said.

Jokowi hopes that with the determination of the reserve components, the defense and security system of the people of the universe will be stronger. Moreover, at the same time the government also continues to modernize defense equipment in all dimensions from land, sea and air.

"The reserve components are only for defense and the interests of the state. The determination of these reserve components will further strengthen the defense and security system of our universal people," he said.

Previously reported, President Jokowi appointed 3,103 members of the reserve component (komcad) of the Indonesian National Army. They have gone through a long selection and the result of hard training in the military style.

The total reserve component of 3,103 people consisted of the Main Regiment of Kodam (Rindam) Jaya with 500 people, Rindam III Siliwangi (500 people), Rindam IV Diponegoro (500 people), Rindam V Brawijaya (500 people), Rindam XII Tanjung Pura (499 people). people), and the Defense University as many as 604 people.

Those present at the inauguration of the reserve components were Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa, Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono , Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo and other officials.
