JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded that reserve components are only deployed when the country is in a state of martial law or war.

So that the active period is not every day, but only when mobilized by the President and with the approval of the DPR RI.

"The reserve components are active not every day, not every time. Every day, not every time. After this determination, you return to your respective professions. Members of the reserve components continue to work as usual," said Jokowi when inaugurating the reserve components at the Pusdiklatpassus. , Bandung, Thursday, October 7th.

He reminded that the reserve components are under the command and control of the TNI Commander. "This means that there are no reserve component members who carry out independent activities," said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

"I need to emphasize that reserve components must not be used other than for defense purposes. Reserve components are only for defense and the interests of the state," added Jokowi.

He hopes that the determination of this reserve component will further strengthen the people's defense and security system. Moreover, at the same time, the government continues to modernize defense equipment in all dimensions, starting from land, sea and air. On the other hand, said Jokowi, a number of the nation's children who have the ability in the fields of science and technology are conducting research and development in various strategic fields. Thus, it is hoped that this will protect the sovereignty of the nation.

"The construction of Indonesian-made frigates, including guided missiles for air defense and sea defense as well as in the construction of submarines," he said.

Previously reported, President Jokowi appointed 3,103 members of the reserve component (komcad) of the Indonesian National Army. They have gone through a long selection and the result of hard training in the military style.

The total reserve component of 3,103 people consisted of the Main Regiment of Kodam (Rindam) Jaya with 500 people, Rindam III Siliwangi (500 people), Rindam IV Diponegoro (500 people), Rindam V Brawijaya (500 people), Rindam XII Tanjung Pura (499 people). people), and the Defense University as many as 604 people.

Those present at the inauguration of the reserve components were Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa, Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono , Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo and other officials.
