Held A Luxury Children's Birthday Party At Singapore Waterpark, Village Head In Tulungagung Demanded A Fine Of Rp12.5 Million

TULUNGAGUNG - The village head in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, Hariyanto, was demanded to pay a fine of Rp12.5 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison for violating the health protocol (prokes) he committed when holding a lavish birthday party amid PSBB in early 2021.

"The trial was held last Tuesday (5/10). Brother H, we demand Rp12.5 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison," said the Head of Intelligence at the Tulungagung District Attorney's Office, Agung Tri Radityo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 6.

The prosecutor's demands are still lighter than the provisions in Law No. 6/2018 on Health Quarantine.

Article 93 states that violators of the health protocol that result in harm or endanger the safety of others can be sentenced to a maximum of 1 year in prison or a fine of Rp100 million.

The defendant was judged to have been cooperative during the trial, frank and courteous. "During the examination, he was always present, even though no arrests were made," he said.

A follow-up hearing with the agenda of reading a plea or defense will be held next week.

This violation was carried out when the Head of Karangsari Village, Rejotangan District, Hariyanto, held a luxury party for his daughter at his Singapore waterpark in early January 2021.

At that time, most areas in East Java, including Tulungagung, were being imposed by PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions), due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases after Christmas and New Year holidays.

After the party, the Singapore Waterpark was sealed by the police. The development of this case has been tough and long. This case file was submitted to the District Attorney's Office, but it was declared P-19 (incomplete) because there were several missing files in mid-April 2021.

After a long hiatus with no clarity, the Tulungagung Police investigators issued a new Notice of Investigation Commencement (SPDP).

Finally, the completion of the file was received by the District Attorney on June 8, 2021, with a new SPDP.
